The living room is one of the most popular rooms in the house. We all like to spend time there when we’re home back from work and have some free time to rest and relax. Also, this is the area where guests are usually entertained. Because of this, it is important to know how to clean your living room the right way so all the dust and dirt that tends to accumulate will simply vanish, allowing a spotless looking room to shine through.

One of the places that you can start with in your living room is the upholstery. People just don’t realize how much dust can be  gathered there. Particularly if you have fabric or leather upholstery, the dust speckles can easily grind into the actual fabric and destroy it in the long term. One of the best ways to clean your upholstery is by dusting once a week.

If you own a pet, you will get lots of fur on the upholstery which will need to be clean out regularly. You can easily use a damp leather patch and rub it gently against the fabric so the pet hair buckles into one big piece that be easily remove afterwards.

If you have a leather piece, it is easy to clean using a damp cloth and some gentle soap. Use very little water and wipe the leather piece nice and clean. Finally, use a dry towel to dry and polish the leather upholstery.

When it comes to cleaning your TV set, you’ll see how dirty it can actually get. It is because when the television is switched on, it gathers lots of dust through the static that it generates, which attracts the dust. The TV should be cleaned about once a week for best results. However, before cleaning don’t forget to unplug it from the wall and avoid spraying anything on the TV set that would be able to go into the electronic parts of the television and destroy it. Use a damp paper towel with just a bit of dish-washing liquid and wipe the TV. Don’t forget the back of the TV which has usually the most dust settled on it.

Another rather sensitive area to clean is the pictures and frames on the wall. You need to clean them gently without destroying the frame or the painting. You can easily dust with a feather duster to avoid any dust from building up. Avoid spraying anything on the pictures as the spray liquid could easily damage both the frame and the picture.
